Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited was incorporated in Chennai in 1960. TAFE grew through Indian tractor manufacturing, its long Massey Ferguson association and the acquisition of Eicher’s tractor business.

History and legacy
TAFE’s own company information dates incorporation to 1960. Its manufacturing history includes both Massey-related and proprietary tractor designs. The 2005 Eicher transaction expanded the business; TAFE should not be mistaken for the entire worldwide Massey Ferguson organization merely because of their historical manufacturing relationship.
