About Ferguson
Harry Ferguson developed a tractor-and-implement system that made the three-point hitch central to farming. After partnerships with David Brown and Ford, his business combined with Massey-Harris in 1953.

History and legacy
Early sales of other makers’ tractors led Ferguson to focus on better implement attachment. Short-lived manufacturing agreements preceded the Standard-built Ferguson tractors. The 1953 transaction is distinct from the earlier break with Ford and the later adoption of the Massey Ferguson name.
