About Deutz-Allis
Deutz-Allis followed KHD’s purchase of Allis-Chalmers’ farm-equipment business in 1985. A 1990 management buyout of the North American operation formed AGCO, which used the AGCO Allis identity.

Official AGCO history supplies the 1990 buyout date and identifies Robert Ratliff’s management team. These dates take precedence over inconsistent dates in some older brand summaries. The agricultural sale should also be distinguished from the original Allis-Chalmers company’s later closure.
