Ernest and Percy Tapp started County Commercial Cars in 1929. Their vehicle-conversion business became known for Ford-based four-wheel-drive tractors before ownership changes and declining production in the 1980s.

History and legacy
County first worked on trucks, then converted a Fordson Major to crawler drive in 1948. Its later four-wheel-drive conversions became the best-known product. The source identifies two 1980s buyouts but does not name their buyers or establish a final closure date.
