About Claas
August Claas established his agricultural machinery business in Germany in 1913. Famous for harvesting equipment, CLAAS expanded into a broad tractor range by acquiring Renault Agriculture in stages from 2003.

History and legacy
The official company history records the 1913 business registration and the later brothers’ involvement. It also clarifies the Renault transaction: an initial stake in 2003 led to full ownership in 2008, rather than a single 2004 purchase. Renault’s orange tractor identity gave way to CLAAS green.
