About AGCO
AGCO began in 1990 when a management group bought Deutz-Allis’s North American agricultural business. It grew into a multi-brand machinery company; the later retirement of the AGCO tractor badge did not mean the corporation closed.

From Deutz-Allis to AGCO
The management buyout from KHD was completed in June 1990. Early tractors carried the AGCO Allis name, while later acquisitions broadened the business. This corporate founding date is separate from the older Allis-Chalmers lineage.
The company and the tractor badge
In 2001, AGCO brought its AGCO Allis and White tractor names together under the AGCO badge. A phase-out of that badge was announced in 2009. AGCO’s corporate history continued through its other brands, rather than a sale or closure of the whole company.
